Insert an autoincrement value in a child table

Hi all, I would like to use a standard way to do not a simple thing, add a autoincremented field from the master table to a field in a child table, tipically in a many to many relationship in the same page using just two transactions I have some Idea but i have to write not standard ADDT code perhaps there's another way to do. Can Youi suggest me a way? Thank you very moutch.
